Symphony Orchestra Violins:
Auditions for the Danse Macabre solo violin part will be Monday, August 29 during Smart Period. Be sure to prepare all sections marked "solo" on the Violin 1A part. I will write passes for those auditioning during class on Friday. -Mr. Tschiniak Here is information regarding the HSE orchestra department's Spring Break 2017 trip to New York City:
Who: Any HSE orchestra member (concert, philharmonic, or symphony) who chooses to join us on our trip. This is not a required event. When: March 31 - April 4, 2017 (no class time will be missed) Cost: Yes, this will be discussed at the trip kick-off meeting. There will be three large fundraisers throughout the first semester to offset students' trip fees; these will be discussed in detail at the meeting. How do I get more information: Join us next Thursday, August 25, at 6:30pm in the HSE orchestra room (enter through the CCA entrance - door 18) for our trip kick-off meeting. Our travel representative from Music Travel Consultants will present the entire trip in detail and field any and all questions. Chaperones?: Absolutely! We will take as many as we can get! Keep in mind chaperones will also have to pay the trip fee. If you are interested in the trip and cannot make the meeting, I will provide a link to a video of the presentation. -Mr. Tschiniak This message was sent as an email to parents and students last evening:
It's hard to believe we are to this point already, but I want to welcome you to another exciting year for the Hamilton Southeastern Orchestra Program. Here are a few things of note: 1.) The orchestra program's website has changed to www.southeasternorchestras.org. While it is still being built, you should be able to find useful information. The home page of our website includes the orchestra's google calendar. Most of our 2016-2017 events are already included. 2.) Pending approval, there will be an exciting announcement at the beginning of the year regarding an orchestra trip during Spring Break 2017. 3.) Students will not need instruments on the first day of school, August 10. We will begin playing on the second day of school, August 11. 4.) All orchestra students should prepare a solo or excerpt of his or her choice to perform for a placement audition during class on the second and third days of school. I would recommend preparing a solo or excerpt with which you are very familiar. The excerpt can be from a chamber ensemble piece or from a piece of music you have played in orchestra class. Fear not: you will only play for Mr. Tschiniak, and these will not be graded!! I look forward to meeting many new faces and seeing many familiar ones soon! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. |
